But now that the dust has settled, I kind of like the new “Sirius” of Sirius XM music offerings.  I was hoping for Kenny Chesney’s channel, but instead I got XMU and a few other cool channels.  I also like the channel #5 for 50’s, #6 for 60’s, and so on.

But the best part about it all, “what will tomorrow bring?”.

If Sirius and XM or a combined satellite radio company is still around in 5 years there WILL be better times ahead for investors.

Sirius and XM pay for text ads and the owner of SatelliteRadio.com gets paid to redirect traffic to their sites.  Wasted money in my opinion.  One of these companies should of been smart enough to own the generic domain of the product they sell.

I just don’t think these companies understand Internet traffic.  Internet traffic that they could push to their Internet Radio Service.

In the future I’ll post more of my opinions on the Internet strategies of the satellite radio companies. In short, I don’t think the satellites will be very important in the future. In addition, XM doesn’t even own XM.com! Pony up a few million and get the name that many people type into their browser looking for your site.

If you need someone to head up your Internet Strategy Division (I doubt that exists), YOU CAN HIRE ME!

I’m sick of the stagnant radio business model and the boring little dog.  When is the last time you heard anyone talk about Howard Stern around the water cooler?  Lets just rename Sirius, “100.5″ and XM, “99.4″.  If they let them merger they can name the combined company “199.9″, because they are becoming more and more like boring terrestrial radio. 

Why not start a little buzz or try something new?

Make CNET an offer for Radio.com that they can not refuse. Then, forget about the retail receiver market, and push hard for Internet subscribers. Who could forget Radio.com? Heck, the type-in traffic alone will probably pay for the domain.

Give Mongo a tattoo.

Create a Super Bowl commercial with Stern that would make GoDaddy’s CEO Bob Parsons blush.

People are passionate about Howard Stern, the NFL, MLB, Oprah, and much of the other content on satellite radio. Embrace that passion. Brand, market, and distribute that passion into everything Sirius or XM.

If Karmazin is going to stay he must break out of that terrestrial mold, because in the future it is going to take more than a merger to compete for subscribers against the increasing competition.

As Bruce Springsteen prepares to release his new album, Magic, on October 2, Sirius has brought back “E Street Radio,” a commercial-free channel dedicated entirely to the music of Springsteen. The channel will premiere next Thursday, September 27 at 6 p.m. ET and will remain on Sirius until March of next year.

“The return of E Street Radio brings fans unprecedented access to the music of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band,” said Scott Greenstein, Sirius President of Entertainment and Sports. “Thanks to Bruce Springsteen, it is with great pleasure that we are able to bring the channel back to the many Springsteen fans who eagerly wanted the return of E Street Radio, which first launched on Sirius in late 2005. The E Street Radio channel will benefit from Bruce and the E Street Band’s unique contributions, but also will include even more fan participation in shaping the sound of the channel.”

E Street Radio will feature segments dedicated to Magic, archival live recordings of Bruce and the band going back to 1973 and much more. Fans will also select their favorite live recordings of shows, with some selected to guest host on the channel and share their concert memories. Various Springsteen fans, including famous ones, will get the chance to guest DJ on E Street Radio.

Ludacris will be celebrating his 30th birthday with a private dinner party known as “Birthday for a Boss“, hosted by XM Radio on Friday, September 7th 2007 at 7pm.

Chris “Ludacris” Bridges will be having a birthday bash with all of his celebrity friends and family members at Café Martorano at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino which will also be the kickoff for the MTV Video Music Awards which take place on the same weekend as Ludacris’s scheduled Vegas-Style party.

Though many will be wanting to catch a glimpse of Ludacris and his other celebrity friends at his party which will most likely be quite impressive, it will be a private party with lots of security. Other guests who will be attending include Island Def Jam Records President LA Reid, Gnarls Barkley, 50 Cent, Ciara, Timbaland, Gabrielle Union, Quincy Jones, Joe Pesci, LeBron James, and countless other top celebrities.

Luda has his own weekly XM Radio Show known as Ludacris’ Open Mic.” Yes you can tune in and listen to him. His new season starts on Saturday, September 8th and he will be on air at 6pm ET on the hip-hop channel called “RAW” (ch 66).

Sirius NFL Lineup and Game Schedule

Artie Lange was the center of attention on the Howard Stern Show after he recently slept through a wedding and sent a letter of apology to the bride and groom.

In the apology, Artie wrote that he went out drinking Friday night and didn’t get home until Saturday at 7 a.m. He then “passed out” and didn’t wake up until Sunday evening.

“It is now Monday Sept 3rd at 10 PM and it wasn’t until 15 minutes ago that I realized in horror I missed your wedding. Words can’t express how sorry I am, I consider you guys great friends and I’m a wreck about it. I offer nothing that can even be barely recognized as an explanation except to say I am a mess. I’ve actually, believe it or not, done this before. Without a woman in my life to take care of me like an obese, whining, selfish, pompous, pretentious, ass baby, my life becomes a thick forest of bullshit and chaos.”

He also tells the couple they’re probably better off that he didn’t show.

“Believe me your wedding would have been scarred with my miserable, pudgy, barely shaved enormous face hovering over it like a self-absorbed depressed blimp.”

He slept for a day and a half. Would that be considered a coma?
